The human hand accounts for approximately 1% of the total body surface area and 8% of the total sensory neurons of the body, meaning hand is eight times more sensitive than the rest of the body combined. If you are having pain in your hand/wrist, this could cause serious deficits in your daily activities!
Here at Rue and Primavera, we focus extensively at decreasing the amount of pain you are experiencing. Once your pain is managed, we focus on improving the functional use of your hands. That can include increasing range of motion, strength, dexterity, sensation, or anything else that will help you complete your essential activities with more ease.
Some of the conditions we treat include but are not limited to: carpal tunnel, arthritis, fractures, sprains, dislocations, tendinitis, lacerations, burns, post surgical rehabilitation, amputations, Dequervain’s Tenosynovitis, Dupuytren’s contracture, and many more!
Our hand therapists here at Rue and Primavera also offer splinting/orthotic services. Refer to our splinting page for more info!
During your first visit with us, we will take an in-depth look at any previous injuries that might be causing your current symptoms. We will also examine exactly what deficits you are currently experiencing to help us better understand how to decrease your current pain. Then we will work together with you to create a plan to continue decreasing pain and increasing the functional use of your hands for daily activities.
During subsequent daily therapy sessions, we will use a multitude of techniques including: manual therapy, various modalities such as ultrasound, pain management, lymphedema massage, range of motion exercises, strengthening exercises, and fine motor coordination exercises to continue improving the use of your hands.
Here at Rue and Primavera, our number one priority is to get you back to doing the things you need to do in order to live your life to the fullest!
